A fugitive wanted for an outstanding felony parole revocation warrant led deputies on a foot pursuit early Monday morning in Fort Collins, ending with a K9 bite and arrest.

According to a news release, a Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputy initiated a traffic stop at South College Avenue and East Skyway Drive in Fort Collins at approximately 3:06 a.m. Monday. The driver immediately fled on foot once the vehicle stopped, while a passenger in the vehicle was detained as Fort Collins police officers arrived to assist with locating the suspect.

As it turns out, the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Ashton Layne Hamilton of Littleton, was wanted for an outstanding felony parole revocation warrant from the Colorado Department of Corrections. The LCSO K9 team began a track to find Hamilton, who was located at around 4 a.m. hiding behind a camper parked in a driveway in the 6000 block of Mars Drive.

Hamilton was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene after sustaining a superficial wound to his ankle from the K9 bite. He was then booked into the Larimer County Jail on the following allegations:

  • Resisting Arrest - Class 2 Misdemeanor
  • DUI - Alcohol or Drugs - Misdemeanor
  • Drove Suspended/Revoked/Denied/Cancelled - Misdemeanor
  • Traffic Control Signal Violation - Traffic
  • Violation of a Restraining Order - Class 2 Misdemeanor
  • Warrant/Parole Violation - Felony

No charges were pressed against the passenger of the vehicle, who was released. The charges above are merely an accusation and Hamilton is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
