Fishing ReelUgh, horrific news from Fort Collins today; A teenager who was fishing fell into a pond southwest of Horsetooth & Shields and died.

According to the Coloradoan, the boy was sitting in a chair fishing in the Westfield Park area southwest of Horsetooth and Shields and fell face-first into the pond. Firefighters arrived around 10AM and pulled the boy out and tried to resuscitate him, but had no luck. He was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies where he was pronounced dead.

The boy’s exact age and identity have yet to be released.

Police say there were no signs of foul play, but are seeking witnesses: Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Keith Maynard of Fort Collins Police Services at 970-416-2051.

Hug your loved ones today, this is a grim reminder that horrible things can happen, even during something as innocent as a day fishing at the pond.
