The city of Ferguson, Missouri, has agreed to place a permanent memorial to honor the life of Michael Brown. The temporary memorial was removed on his 19th birthday.

It doesn't take much to jog our memories about what unfolded in Ferguson, Missouri after officer Darren Wilson was acquitted of all charges in the shooting death of Michael Brown. The damage done to the city was enormous and many innocent people and business owners suffered through that, some still trying to recover.

It didn't matter to many in Ferguson, and around the country, that officer Wilson was in the right to defend himself and draw his weapon on Brown, who had refused numerous requests to follow the orders that were given to him. I won't get into all the details but the evidence provided was beyond sufficient to declare officer Wilson innocent and the shooting justified. In fact, many of those who sided with Wilson in the court process were black.

Friends and family of Michael Brown have been placing teddy bears and the like to honor his memory since his death last August at the scene of the shooting. The make-shift memorial is right in the middle of the street and has become a hazard for passing drivers so it was agreed that Michael Brown, Sr. would remove the obstacle and Mayor James Knowles III agreed that a permanent marker was appropriate and will be placed to honor Michael Brown on Canfield Drive where he was shot.
