As the story goes, three soldiers, hungry and tired passed through a war torn village.  Embittered and suspicious from the war, the villagers hid their food and closed their windows tight.  That is, until the clever soldiers suggested making a soup from stones. Intrigued by the idea, everyone brought what they had to the pot and together they made a feast fit for a king.  This inspiring story is about the strength people possess when they work together!  So join us in the fight against hunger and make a difference in our community.

In Weld County, 1 in 5 children do not have enough food to eat. In Greeley-Evans School District 6, 61% of students qualify for free or reduced priced meals. However, over the weekend they do not have access to those meals. Last year, our Backpack program gave 24,507 bags to children so they could have something to eat on Saturday and Sunday. This will be the focus of Stone Soup 2016 as we explore how together we can “Pack Up Hunger.”
