Sierra’s Race Against Meningitis is excited to announce the 6th annual 5K race to spread awareness and help prevent bacterial meningitis. With growing numbers, Sierra’s Race will now be held at The Ranch @ The Budweiser Event Center and will also be welcoming a special guest speaker, Amy Purdy!
Sierra’s Race Against Meningitis (SRAM), an organization committed to preventing bacterial meningitis in loving memory of Sierra Krizman, is gearing up for their 6th annual 5K run/walk and kids fun run at a brand new location – The Ranch. They are also extremely honored to announce that this year meningitis survivor, Amy Purdy will be sharing her incredible story, immediately following the race.
Despite losing both her legs to meningitis, Amy Purdy, followed her dreams, becoming a professional snowboarder, entrepreneur and participant on The Amazing Race. SRAM has become one of the largest 5K races in Northern Colorado and hopes to continue to grow for years to come. Lisa Krizman, Sierra’s mom and one of the founders of SRAM, says that moving the race to The Ranch will also allow the organization time after the race to host a FREE vaccination clinic this year.
“Our family is humbled at the amount of support we continue to receive and that the race continues to grow. We are extremely excited to have Amy Purdy at Sierra’s Race this year, and have no doubt she will touch the lives of everyone who hears her story.”
The race will be held Saturday, June 1st, 2013 at 8:30 am, at The Ranch, located at 5280 Arena Circle in Loveland, Colorado. Each Participant has a chance to win a 5 night Air & Hotel Vacation, staying at the beautiful RIU Palace Mexico, provided by Apple Vacations ("America's Favorite Vacation Company") AND RIU Palace Mexico - along with other great prizes!! Cash prizes will also be given for overall male and female winners, as well as setting the Colorado 5K record and Sierra’s 5K record.
Pre-registration for the 5K Run/Walk is $22.00 and includes a long sleeved t-shirt, and $10 for the Kids Fun Run, which includes a t-shirt. Pre-registration will end on May 29th at 6 pm, and registrations received by May 10th will receive a free Chick fil-a combo meal coupon. Businesses and organizations can register as a team and will be eligible to win the “largest team” prize. SRAM is committed to preventing bacterial meningitis in our community, through raising awareness, educating the public, and providing free vaccinations.
