Part of the Estes Park landmark is a total loss after a fire broke out around 8 p.m. on Saturday evening (June 23), according to Estes Valley Fire Protection District.

Mary's Lake Lodge has been a popular wedding and event destination for Coloradans and visitors alike, and a part of Estes Park for over 100 years, so the community is pretty devastated by this loss.

"Units enroute could see a significant smoke plume from the building and called for a first and second alarm, bringing Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, Allenspark Fire, Pinewood Springs Fire, and EPMC EMS....Crews were able to complete a primary search and ensure all occupants were out of the building.... At its peak the incident had over 50 firefighters plus emergency responders from Estes Park Police Department, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, Estes Park Light & Power, and Xcel Energy...the fire was declared under control at 01:21 on Sunday, June 24th. Fire spread was limited to the main lodge." -EVFPD
