Estes Park Controversy Over Proposed Ski-Adventure Area

The debate over a proposed ski and adventure area in Estes Park is starting to heat up. It's been years since the town's ski area shut. Now, developers have proposal on the table.

The Coloradoan is reporting:

One group wants to turn Estes Park into a year-round tourism destination by creating a ski area and adventure park on the state's oldest continually operating hotel.

Elkhorn Lodge grew even before Estes Park was officially a town - and even before Colorado was a state. It boasted the first school in Estes Park, and has been a tourism destination for generations.

But the current owner wants to sell it, as many of the buildings are in need of work and the facility struggles to make money.
