A woman facing a DWI charge was let off the hook after a judge determined her body was a "brewery."

The motorist - a 35-year-old school teacher in New York - was pulled over last year after being spotted "weaving all over" the road with a flat tire. Police say she smelled of alcohol, was slurring her speech, and had glassy, bloodshot eyes.

She had a BAC of 0.33% - 4 times the legal limit.

A judge dismissed charges in December, however, after medical evidence proved the woman suffers from "Auto-Brewery Syndrome," also known as gut fermentation syndrome, which involves excess yeast in her digestive system.

Other people with this condition have reported "goofiness" after eating french fries and false accusations of alcoholism.

Gut fermentation syndrome could potentially be linked to long-term use of antibiotics.
