What's a better reason to enjoy a few cold ones tonight, than the fact that today is National Beer Day?!

That's right, and you're welcome.

April 7 annually celebrates beer, the world's most widely consumed alcoholic beverage, and what is also recognized as one America's oldest prepared beverages.

This date was chosen for the unofficial holiday, as it was also the date of the Cullen-Harrison Act being signed into law, back in 1933 by President Roosevelt. This act made it possible for people to brew and sell beer in the United States for the first time in 13 years because of Prohibition. Once this law was passed on April 7, people from all over America gathered together at breweries to celebrate the progress of their country, and of course, drink lots of beer! In fact, over 1.5 million barrels of beer were consumed during that first unofficial National Beer Day.

Upon signing the Cullen-Harrison Act, President Roosevelt reportedly said to his aide "I think this would be a good time for a beer." We couldn't agree more.

Fun fact, today is also National No Housework Day. Coincidence or perfectly logical —you decide?
