With the Great Colorado Pie Fight just weeks away, my excitement simply can't be measured.  Pizza is one of my very favorite foods, and having so many kinds in one place is going to make me act like a kid in a candy store.  So in my excitement, I was thinking back to some of my fondest pizza memories, and there's one in particular that really stands out...

I believe I was around 12 or 13 years old, and it was football season.  My parents wanted to throw a game-watching party for the family, and had mentioned they were going to get a pizza from somewhere.  I had just seen a TV commercial for an epic-looking pizza, and I had never been more eager to try something in my life.

This pizza was absolutely crazy.  Imagine a regular pizza piled high with meaty toppings.  Now, put another complete pizza on top of it, roll the crust together at the edges, and bake it into a single, legendary pie.  That's what I saw on TV, and that's what I absolutely had to have.

But I was convinced it would never happen.  I had never known my parents to be into crazy food choices, and this pizza was definitely crazy.  However, in an unprecedented move, they agreed to get it!  I can honestly say I hadn't ever been more excited for game day.

The pizza came from one of those take-and-bake places; and when my parents brought it home on that fateful Sunday, it was everything I had hoped it would be, even in its uncooked form.  I remember sitting next to the oven, watching it literally rise to new heights as it cooked.  When it came out of the oven, it must have been close to four inches thick, and bursting with deliciousness.

We all enjoyed sharing this incredible culinary creation as we watched the game.  It was absolutely delicious, both on that day and in the week of leftovers that followed!

I can't wait for the Great Colorado Pie Fight to give me some more wonderful pizza memories!
