Downtown Fort Collins Named Best By Livability.com [PHOTOS]

Livability.com has chosen Downtown Fort Collins as #1 on it's list of top 10 downtowns in America. Not a surprise considering the fact that foodies, fisherpersons, beer and art lovers can all converge on the area and find more than enough to do. Livability.com had this to say about the Old Town area.

Known to many as a beer lovers' paradise for its seven breweries, downtown Fort Collins is equally appealing to foodies and families. Already considered one of the most attractive downtowns in the country, significant future projects call for transportation improvements as well as a year-round market place.

The survey clearly looked at existing assets, with eyes on the future. Not only does Fort Collins have the coming transportation improvement that they mentioned, there are many other improvements that stretch into the future as well.

Sustainability has been priority in Fort Collins since I moved here. Not only is the city always working on making their practices more sustainable, they also make it easier for citizens by supporting programs like FortZED, adding more and more materials that we can recycle, and placing things like solar compactors and recycle stations throughout the city.

Music and the arts are growing in Fort Collins, and finding support from residents and from others across the country. The Fort Collins Music Experiment has been growing every year and gaining a bigger and bigger national audience.

Plus, the opening of the new Fort Collins Museum of Discovery next week is only going to make a great downtown even greater.

Others on the list include Provo, Utah, Hollywood, Florida, Stamford, Connecticut, and Charleston, South Carolina.
