Set for a May of 2013 release, the revamped version of The Lone Ranger is currently filming.

We have your first look at the masked ranger and his sidekick (played by Johnny Depp) Tonto!

Check it out!

Executive Producer of the film "The Lone Ranger" Jerry Bruckheimer released this photo via his Twitter account on Thursday March 8th.

Take a look at Johnny Depp: It doesn't LOOK like he's portraying a sympathetic Native American- one that would help out a White Texas Ranger.  He looks a little crazy to me; but then Johnny ALWAYS looks a little crazy.

Portraying 'John Reid' -aka 'The Lone Ranger' is Armie Hammer.  'Armie' may sound like a strange name, but he's heir to the Armand Hammer fortune, so...  Armie was most recently seen as J. Edgar Hoover's assistant Clyde Tolson in 'J. Edgar'

From Movieweb.com here's the synopsis of the new film:

Left for dead in an ambush with five other Texas Rangers, lawman John Reid (Armie Hammer) survives and is nursed back to health by an Indian scout named Tonto (Johnny Depp). He then dons a mask to avenge the murders of his comrades and to foil evil doers, never accepting payment for his services. His gratis vigilantism is made possible by the silver mine he inherits from one of his slain brothers - the same mine that affords him an endless supply of his trademark silver bullets."

Funny.  As a kid watching the old TV show, I never wondered about where all those silver bullets came from!

Summer of 2013 is a long ways off, but I'm excited for a little adventure with these guys! How about you?
