A lot of controversy is coming out of Disney's makeover of their latest princess. Disney decided to add Merida, the feisty redhead from 'Brave', their newest princess and they decided to tweak her image.

A lot of people are not happy about the makeover. Merida's dress collar was lowered, her hips were widened, her hair was tamed into luscious locks and her bow, her signature item, was removed. The also redid her face a little as well.

'Brave' creator and co-writer Brenda Chapman is really not happy with the makeover:

There is an irresponsibility to this decision that is appalling for women and young girls.

Disney marketing and the powers that be that allow them to do such things should be ashamed of themselves.

I can understand why they are upset. Merida was that fierce girl that didn't want to be forced to be more feminine. She was independent and had a mind of her own. I think she was a good princess to look up to and am kind of shocked that Disney would change her just to make her more marketable.
