After more than 30 years, 7NEWS Anchor Bertha Lynn is calling it quits. The Denver Channel is reporting that her last newscast will happen this Friday, August 9th, 2013 at 11AM.

It's always kind of sad to see someone who has become an icon in our local broadcast community to step down, but Lynn is moving on to become the Executive Director of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation at Denver.

To be tapped by Barbara Davis and the Board of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation to carry on their work helping sick children is a dream come true -- allowing me to meet new challenges while continuing to serve in Colorado.  I have much to look forward to and much to look back on when assessing my career.  It has been a privilege to collaborate with such skillful and caring journalism professionals.

This was just posted to Lynn's Facebook page:

It's an emotional day for me. I'll have more to say later, but right now, I just want to thank you for your kind wishes and support over all these years. It means a lot. You've been the most caring, discerning, generous, patient, understanding viewers anyone would want. I love you, Colorado!

So long, good luck, and thanks for all or your hard work giving us the news, as well as making a difference in Colorado. We'll miss seeing you on the air, but congratulations and good luck on your work with the Children’s Diabetes Foundation.

Here's a little look back at some Lynn's work in a video that was made when she was inducted into the Broadcast Professionals of Colorado Hall of Fame in 2010.

Will you be tuning in to see her last sign-off from 7News?
