The Mile High city has been named the number 1 best place to live in the United States.

Denver7 reports U.S. News & World Report released the new rankings, placing Denver in the number one spot, followed by Austin, TX, Fayetteville, AR, Raleigh-Durham, NC, and Colorado Springs.

Denver's top ranking was calculated from desirability, value, job market, quality of life, and net migration. The article cites Denver's close proximity to ski resorts, Cherry Creek State Park, and Red Rocks Park, and described the city's residents as "an easygoing crowd of ambitious, progressive-minded fitness fanatics and nature lovers who are eager to push the envelope on everything from civil rights to drug laws."

Of course, marijuana played a part in Denver's top spot, essentially as a factor in boosting our economy.

It's important to note that Northern Colorado cities have also won top-notch awards for their livability. As one example, Fort Collins has won a slew of awards in health, technology, and female entrepreneurship (among other categories).
