Doug Schepman, a Denver Police spokesman, told The Denver Channel that “Immigration enforcement is handled at the federal level, not by local law enforcement.'

In addition to Denver Police's non-enforcement stance, the Aurora Police Department said today that it will also leave it to the feds. Aurora Police issued a statement to The Denver Channel saying it will not 'investigate or detain people based on immigration status.'

Do you think that police should enforce immigration issues locally, or do you agree with the police in Denver and Aurora that it is a federal matter? Tell us what you think in the comments.
