This sportscaster from a really tough sport (football) in a reputably tough place (Dallas, Texas) had a great reaction to Michael Sam's coming out.
Sam was the defensive player of the year for Missouri and is expected to be chosen within the top ten picks in the NFL Draft this year, and he has publicly announced that he is gay. This will make him the first openly gay player in the NFL, should he be drafted.

Dale Hansen belied the stereotype of southern-old-guy-sportscaster in above broadcast, so maybe we can can that stereotype, along with most of the others.

I loved the civil rights quote he slid in there after his honest admission of how he sometimes feels about gay men.

I'm not always comfortable when a man tells me he is gay, I don't understand his world. But I do understand he is part of mine. Civil rights activist Audrey Lord said 'It's not our differences that divide us, it our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences'.

Way to go, Dale.

What do you think of the situation?
