classroom. It's the WATCH D.O.G.S. Program: Dads of Great Students.

The program was developed by the National Center for Fathering that organizes fathers and father figures in order to provide positive male role models for the students and to enhance school security.  The idea- to get dads and father figures such as uncles, step-fathers and grandpas into the classroom for at least ONE DAY in many different activities involving their child's education.

The initiative hopes to have a three-fold impact:

  • Having dads in schools will help to engage those fathers.
  • It will help inspire kids
  • It will help to reduce bullying in those schools.

ABC News did a story on it-

Sound like a GREAT plan to me! I've volunteered in the Poudre School District- helping out in a first grade classroom- where I wasn't connected to any of the kids, and THAT was a great experience. I can only imagine how it would feel to have been one of the kids' dads!
