The crash happened around 3 p.m. just North of the intersection of Lemay Avenue and Vine Drive Saturday afternoon in Fort Collins when a car traveling behind a truck hauling a small boat swerved to miss a collision and hit a cyclist in the northbound bike lane.

According to the Coloradoan, witnesses said they saw the cyclist fly up into the air and that there were attempts to administer CPR until emergency crews could arrive.

Poudre Valley Hospital EMS treated the male victim and took him to Medical Center of the Rockies where he later died from his injuries.

An investigation is ongoing. Police are trying to determine if the driver of the car fell asleep at the wheel. It isn't suspected that alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash.

As of late Saturday night, the victim's name had not yet been released.
