Cut Down Your Own Christmas Tree This Weekend In Red Feather
I hate fake trees. That is one thing I can't stand. I know some people have their reasons to get a fake one, but its not for me. One of the reasons could be because my family always had the tradition of going up into the mountains and cutting down our own tree. Its cheaper than going to a lot and paying 30 or 40 bucks for one plus it is a great experience!
Starting on Saturday, the 1st and going through the 9th you can head up to Red Feather and cut down your own Christmas tree. It is only $10 to cut your tree and you can pay up there during the weekend or get your weekday permits at the Forest Service offices located in Fort Collins at 2150 Centre Avenue, Building E.; Boulder at 2140 Yarmouth Avenue; or Greeley at 660 "O” Street.
- From Fort Collins take Highway 287, 21 miles north to Livermore. At Livermore turn left onto County Road 74E (Red Feather Lakes Road). Follow Red Feather Lakes Road 16 miles and turn left onto County Road 68C (Boy Scout Road). Follow Boy Scout Road for seven miles. Signs or Forest Service personnel will direct you into the area.
