Colorado's Free Fishing Weekend is Saturday, June 6th  and Sunday, June 7th. For those two days, anyone of any age can fish without a license anywhere in the state.

You can take advantage of the opportunity to experience the more than 2,500 lakes and reservoirs in Colorado and 10,000 miles of fishable streams and rivers including 300 miles of Gold Medal streams and approximately 3,200 acres of Gold Medal lakes.

Whether you’re a seasoned angler or you’ve never picked up a rod before, finding a place to fish in Colorado has never been easier! The Colorado Fishing Atlas is the latest interactive mapping tool offered by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, allows users to search for fishing opportunities by species, specific interest or proximity to your home or destination. Use the simple map interface to locate recommended opportunities for the family, remote fly fishing or ice fishing.

Free Fishing Fest for Kids

The U.S. Forest Service is hosting a free fishing fest for kids on the Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Roosevelt National Forest on June 6 at the West Lake Day-use area, located off Red Feather Lakes Road. Participants under the age of 15 will receive a free fishing pole and fun-filled fishing lessons by Forest Service fisheries biology staff, the Soaring Eagle Ecology Center and volunteers from Trout Unlimited. Check-in time is from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and the event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
