Lost in the mix over the weekend with the Colorado State University Football team loosing their head coach, new stadium news and getting an invitation to play in the Las Vegas Bowl, is the thriller that advanced the Women's Volleyball team to the Sweet 16 on Saturday (December 6). As reported by the Coloradoan's Kevin Lyle, CSU was on the "brink of elimination" by Colorado University, when they were facing match-point in the decisive fifth-set. After a kill by Alexandrea Poletto to keep CSU alive and an attacking error by CU... they Ram's finished CU off when Poletto and Andrianna Clbert blocked an attack by CU's Alexis Austin.

CSU, ranked 15th in the nation with a 31-2 regular season record will next face the number 2 seed Texas Loners (25-2) in Minneapolis on Friday, December 12. This is the 10th Sweet 16 appearance for the CSU Women's Volleyball team, and 5th under coach Hilbert. A win over Texas would tie a single-season school record for wins and advance them to their first ever regional finals appearance. The time of the match is still yet to be set, however the game will be streamed on ESPN3.
