The state Summer Games will have over 1,000 athletes competing in soccer, track and field, gymnastics, powerlifting and swimming. With 3,000 volunteers, family members, coaches, and unified partners participating this is one event to put on the calendar. There are also several opportunities to volunteer with the games. Our Northern Colorado athletes will be representing the Northeast Region.

Special Olympics is an organization that is near and dear to my heart. I have been a coach for Special Olympics and had volunteered in different capacities with the Summer Games. There is no greater venue to see the value of sportsmanship, inclusion, and pure joy. In one afternoon watching or volunteering with the Special Olympics Summer Games you will be transformed not just as an athlete but as a person. If you are an athlete, your kid is one, the shift in perspective you will have by watching the Special Olympians will be unexplainable.
