Haley Stansfield and Josh Olsen of Idaho Springs, were charged last year in the May of 2014 death of her son Logan. The two apparently shook the 15-month-old baby; and then when it was clear the child needed medical attention, they did not seek medical help for three days. A Grand Jury indicted the two, with the documents unsealed on February 23rd.

If convicted, Haley Stansfield could get 32 years in prison. Josh Olsen could get 32 years.

Added to the tragedy of the case, is that Haley is also up on charges of trying to hire Logan’s father to kill Josh.

Children’s Hospital of Colorado reports that Shaken-Baby-Syndrome is one of the leading causes of death in children under two.

From Children’s Hospital Colorado:

Babies' brains are very fragile and their neck muscles are not strong; therefore, when they are shaken, their heads flop back and forth, causing the brain to slam against the inside of the skull. This causes the blood vessels to tear and blood to collect inside the baby's skull, causing irreparable damage to the brain.

Shaken-Baby-Syndrome is preventable. If you’re feeling frustrated, move yourself away from the situation; call a relative or a friend. Do not take your frustrations out on your child.
