One of the greatest risks with all of the crazy Colorado weather so far this season is lightning.

Since 2005, Colorado has ranked third in lightning fatalities in the U.S.  Colorado has logged 17 deaths since 2005 and another 15 injuries, according to the Coloradoan.

Larimer County is at the top of the list of hot spots for lightning fatalities. The county has had seven deaths since the '80s and 53 reported injuries.

The National Weather Service indicates that most lightning deaths happen in the summer months. There have been 17 lightning related deaths so far this year in the United States with none logged in Colorado.
