Colorado Gives Day was once again a success.

A smashing success. Statewide, and locally, goals were shattered and much needed money was raised. The amount of donors went up. The amount of the average donation went up. The sum total collected went way up, and broke the $1 million goal, and that was just for Larimer County.

"As we watched the donations roll in we could feel the excitement grow,” said Annette Geiselman, Chief Stewardship Officer for Community Foundation of Northern Colorado. “We are incredibly proud of our Larimer County nonprofits who worked so hard to participate in Colorado Gives Day and are especially appreciative to all of the donors who decided to express their generosity on this special day."

Not only did the number of donations increase this year, so did the number of participating Larimer County nonprofits. This year 123 nonprofits participated compared to 92 in 2013.

The big winner this year? Respite Care, a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services for over 140 families in Larimer County and delivers more than 50,000 hours of care annually for families in need. They received the most donations, perhaps bolstered by the fundraiser they recently held, the Respite Ball.

The Community Foundations took the leading role as Northern Colorado Regional Champion, and asked people to give where they live. Coloradans answered in kind with the most donations ever.

Statewide, Colorado Gives Day reaped $26.2 million in charitable donations, topping last year’s record of $20.5 million.

Well, done, Colorado! Let's do it again next year!
