We are very fortunate to live in a city, county and state that values the paved trail. Where I grew up, there was nothing that resembled the network of trails that link Coloradoans to their neighbors, wildlife and natural areas. There are trails that can take you from Breckenridge to Frisco to Copper Mountain to Vail and beyond without stopping!! Seriously, we have some incredible trail networks in this state.

To make them better, the City of Fort Collins is asking people to take their trail survey. Chime in on the future! I did, and it took me all of three and a half minutes.

What is the paved trail system like in Fort Collins?

Fantastic! I mean, it is seriously great. From Cathy Fromme Prairie on the south side to Poudre Trail connecting us to Laporte on the north, there are regions that are so different from each other that you'll be surprised it only took minutes to go from one to the other. Watch the Poudre River rise and lower. See herds of deer, too many birds to count and other wildlife. Take care of your errands with the convenient Mason Trail. Rollerblade, bike, skate, walk, run but do something on one of our paved trails this season!

What do they want to know?

Pretty standard survey, really. What do you like? Are the trails wide enough?

The important questions come when they ask what we want to see happen in the future. For me, since I live in Fort Collins but work in Windsor, I want to see the two cities linked. Ah, what a dream! The northern Colorado metropolis linked by trails. They would see some serious use!
