The City of Fort Collins is reaching out to citizens to give their opinions on the planned improvements to the Prospect Corridor.

The success highlighted in the video above comes about in part because of surveys like this. Fort Collins is always making itself better, and before it does so, usually reaches out to the citizens to see what they think.

The fact that the powers that be care enough to really consider the improvements being made to each section of the city, and that they reach out to the public really makes each improvement that much more special. As they work on the Prospect Corridor, they want to know what we think.

The City of Fort Collins is developing new roadway designs for Prospect Road and Lake Street (between Shields Street and College Avenue). The new designs aim to better serve motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users long into the future. The draft designs feature improved sidewalks, bicycling facilities, landscaping, medians, and pedestrian crossings.

You can review the latest information and weigh in on the draft designs through an online survey via the following link: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/1886538/ProspectSurvey. The online survey will be available through December 7.

The new designs for Prospect Road and Lake Street are part of a larger effort to update the West Central Area Plan, which generally encompasses the neighborhoods south and west of the Colorado State University main campus. The West Central Area Plan provides a basis for updated land use regulations, transportation projects, housing policies, natural resource protection, historic preservation, and neighborhood character for this area of the city.

The West Central Area Plan will be developed over the course of 2014, with anticipated City Council adoption in 2015. Neighborhood outreach, events, online surveys, and other engagement activities will continue to occur throughout the development of the plan.  For more information on the Prospect Corridor Design and the West Central Area Plan, visit fcgov.com/westcentral.
