Cirque du Soleil's Varekai is in town.

From my past experiences with Cirque du Soleil, I expect an amazing show. The only other unsolicited endorsement that I give with this much enthusiasm is probably for the skiing and snowboarding at Steamboat. Hey, when I see the best, I'm going to tell you about it.

Cirque du Soleil was created to dazzle us with feats of athleticism, gymnastics, dance, body contortion, aerials, acrobatics and any other performance ability that humans have. Wrap that in the creative storylines, settings, costumes and acting, and I found it impossible to take my eyes away from the stage. Add beautiful music, incredible set design and lighting, and the experience is complete.

We went to the rehearsals and were able to chat back stage with a few of the artists. They were gushing with excitement, enthusiasm and pride.

I spoke with Vanessa, and she talked about the way that these shows are crafted over a period of years. The creative minds that are involved include the visionaries and the performers.

Balance and flexibility are some of the things that will amaze you with this show.

Balancing yourself on a trapeze this way can't be easy.
