The use of Google Chromebooks as an educational tool has surged in U.S. classrooms over the last few years, due to their low price of around $200. Weld RE4 Education Foundation, a Windsor based non-profit organization, is aiming to keep Northern Colorado schools up-to-date with ever-advancing technology.

The district currently has 2,500 of the web-based laptops, which allow students to learn technological skills like typing on a keyboard (unlike touch screen tablets), but they are hoping to reach a 1:1 ratio for their 3,500 students.

Weld RE4 Education Foundation states that donating to Chromebooks for Christmas is 'a nice, end of the year, tax deductible donation that people can make,' and the laptops will get to students within just a few weeks.

The foundation also states that every donation made to Chromebooks for Christmas 'will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000, so donations will go twice as far.'
