Today’s Dumb Criminal is one of those recognized names in Greeley and in much of Colorado. Charlie Monfort, co-owner of the Colorado Rockies, was arrested in Windsor earlier this week for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Anyone who drives drunk could be listed on my dumb criminals list, but this guy is already in the limelight and he’s been busted for doing it before!

According to The Greeley Tribune, on top of the 54-year-old’s DUI, he was speeding 11MPH over the speed limit and his blood-alcohol level was over three-times the legal limit. He posted bond on Tuesday and has a November 19th court date.

Monfort has been arrested once before in Colorado and it was for the same thing. He was busted for driving under the influence in Greeley back in 1999.

The Colorado Rockies released this statement from Monfort last night:

I’m extremely disappointed in myself for the decision I made to drink and drive and the potential risk I caused to other innocent people,” the statement read. “I want to apologize to my family, the Colorado Rockies staff, players, Major League Baseball and, of course, our fans for the embarrassment I have caused by my actions. I do understand the seriousness of my behavior and the issues that I am facing and I’m committed to do what’s necessary to deal with my problem.

It seem he is saying all the right things, I’m just glad no one got hurt and I hope he can overcome his problem.

However, this still little DUI incident stands as a very stupid choice.

C’mon man, you’re co-owner of a Major League Baseball team, I’m pretty sure you can afford a cab ride home!
