I recently took a trip to Washington D.C. with Honor Flight Northern Colorado and was a bit horrified at what our veterans go through just to use a restroom.

I hope you will take a minute to read my stories about my Honor Flight trip, which was the most life-changing thing I have ever done. On that trip though, my eyes were opened to a world I had taken for granted.

That was the restroom situation in Washington D.C., which was just atrocious. In fact, my mother said that if she had not heard it from me she wouldn't have believed it and I think that's the case for most.

I created a petition last week aimed at Congresswoman Eleanor Norton, though it's not her fault, I had to start somewhere; she was the lucky one I guess.

Today's rant though is mostly at why the petition only has 95 people who have signed it. I'm not sure why it's not 950 or 9,500 by this point.? Really, in a week's time only 95 people care that people in wheelchairs can't even use a bathroom that will lock, or fit them and a wheelchair? Seriously?

Where is the outcry and why am I so mad at this? I am almost madder at the lack of signatures and heartless people who could care less because it doesn't affect them. Don't our veterans, and ANYONE in a wheelchair deserve better?

If you haven't signed the petition yet, please do so and please share this with your friends and family, and by all means, if you have ties to media outlets and heavy-hitters, bring it to their attention. Write your own legislators and ask them to get involved, write letters to congress and any lawmaker who will listen.

Please, all I ask, is that you don't ignore this problem.

Use the button below to sign the petition. It takes less than 30 seconds and doesn't cost any money.
