Expect some delays as you drive on Highway 392/Main Street in Windsor over the next week or so. If you have driven through Windsor in the last day or so you have seen some construction work along Highway 392/Main Street. We got some information on what to expect in the upcoming couple of weeks and what is being done from the Colorado Department of Transportation or CDOT.

Through 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and continuing all day Thursday, crews will be rotomilling the roadway (the big machines are called rotomills) (removing 2.5” of the old roadway).  Wednesday, crews will be working on the inside (passing) lanes and Thursday we will move to the outside (driving) lanes.  The some of the material that is removed actual gets recycled back into the new asphalt mix that will be placed starting next week.

Work crews also have the patch area (big hole around 17th Street) that is going on.  There, crews are making sure the roadway is stable by doing some excavation and putting back in good material.  This area has been settling for years and CDOT crews are fixing it so it won’t happen again.  Plans are to have that work complete by Friday.

The crews work hours are from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  This means that you will see the first cone go down at 5:30 with equipment starting around 6am and we will be picked up by 5:30pm (if everything goes according to plan).
