The cause of one Fort Collins man's mysterious death has been revealed, clearing up questions for many.

Douglas Shields, 55, passed away in Fort Collins sometime last month, and an autopsy was performed on February 14; according to the Larimer County Coroner, there has been a lot of confusion surrounding his death.

The coroner says Shields died from hypothermia with acute ethanol intoxication out of doors and emphysema as contributing factors.

The manner of his death is determined to be an accident.

The Larimer County Coroner did not issue a press release at the time of the autopsy - the reason why is not clear.
