Some swim beaches have been investing in drones for their lifeguards.

Seal Beach, California is one location drones have been put into use and benefits are already apparent.

Not only are drones able to see farther, they can move faster to reach swimmers before a lifeguard would be able to.

The morning they launched the drones at Seal Beach, within minutes, 10-12 great whites where spotted nearby. The lifeguards monitored the behavior and number of sharks in the area and put up signs to let people know that sharks had been sighted, but weren't displaying dangerous actions at that time.

Most humans are only able to swim about six miles per hour. Drones can move three times that fast. They enhance lifeguards' vision and awareness with speakers and cameras, plus they can take a life preserver out to a swimmer in distress before help arrives.

If I'm going to the beach, I'll take one that uses drones over one that doesn't any day.
