California Chrome runs in the Belmont Stakes 1½-mile race Saturday and he’s the favorite. The colt may be the first Triple Crown winner in 36 years, having already won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.

It was beyond exhilarating to watch C.C.'s seemingly never ending new gears kick in. He just kept 'em coming in the first two races, and I'm betting he does it again on Saturday.

There were concerns that wearing an adhesive strip on his nose would be prohibited, but the New York Racing Association now says it’s a go. The FLAIR Equine Nasal Strips were co-invented by Dr. Blanch, a C.S.U. veterinary alumnus and resident of Monument, Colo.

'Why a nasal strip? To keep nasal passages open during rigorous equine performance, making breathing easier and relieving stress on the lungs, particularly important because horses breathe only through their nostrils.'

On June 7, the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes starts at 4:35 p.m. MT on NBC. NBC Sports will carry live coverage from Belmont Park beginning at 12:30 p.m. MT.  The race will also be followed by a half-hour Belmont recap.

Will you be watching to see if California Chrome wins the first Triple Crown since 1978?
