We've always vaccinated our dogs for rabies. It's the law to license dogs in Larimer County.  But this year I also vaccinated all 4 of my precious horses as well. The rabies virus infects the central nervous system, ultimately causing disease in the brain and death. A bull in Weld County has tested positive for rabies and has died. This is the fourth case
of rabies-positive livestock in Colorado this year. In April a Logan County horse tested positive for rabies and in June two Weld County horses tested positive for rabies. The Colorado Department of Agriculture is encouraging livestock and pet owners to discuss the rabies vaccination with their local veterinarian and to monitor their animals for behavioral changes.
