Denver inmate Michael Lee Marshall is on life support following a confirmed incident in the Downtown Denver Detention Center.

Sheriff Patrick Firman's Department issued a statement confirming Marshall was taken to Denver Health Medical Center following the incident on November 11.

Sources told 7News that Marshall, 50, began acting erratically and creating a disturbance until deputies confronted him Wednesday night at around 6:30 p.m.

Marshall stopped breathing as deputies tried to subdue him. CPR was conducted and he was transported by ambulance to Denver Health Medical Center.

Denver Police responded to help investigate, according to a statement from spokesman Simon Crittle. Denver's Independent Monitor was also notified.

Deputy sheriffs involved have given statements to investigators and surveillance video is currently under review.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Marshall, his family, and everyone involved, including our deputies, during what is a very difficult time," the Sheriff Department said in a statement.

We will continue to provide updates on this story as more information becomes available.
