Details continue to emerge from Aurora this morning, following a shooting at at a mall movie theater around 1 a.m. during a showing of ‘Batman: Dark Knight Rises.’ Police said 12 people were killed and another 50 injured.

More than 250 responded to the theater, where one person, recently identified as 24-year-old James Holmes, was taken into custody.
At least eight people were shot and others were injured by scrap metal pepper bomb, the mortician said. Aurora Police said 10 people died inside the theater and two were killed outside.

Holmes was arrested in the movie theater parking lot, police said. Police said Holmes was found with two weapons in his possession, a rifle and a handgun. Police said they recovered a third weapon, but they did not say where that weapon was found or what it was.

Authorities said the suspect alluded to bombs at his house. Police are at that apartment in North Aurora and have evacuated the building. Investigators did not release the location of the apartment.

Upon learning about the incident, President Obama said he was “shocked and saddened.”
