Fort Collins is a very dog-friendly city. I see dogs everywhere, especially now that the weather is warm again. Where are the best places to take your dog in Fort Collins? I'm a very proud owner of an almost 5 year-old Beagle with lots of energy. My little Jasmine is a little shy sometimes, but just like every other pooch, she loves to get out and discover the town too. So, where can you go with your dog in Fort Collins where you and your dog will be welcomed with open arms? I've compiled a list of my top five places to take your dog in Fort Collins and my little Jasmine has visited them all so they are dog approved.

Did you know your dog can go home improvement shopping with you?  Yup, that is right, your dog is welcome at Lowe's in Fort Collins. Some dogs ride along in the shopping carts, while others stroll through the store with their owners (of course your dog must be on a leash at all times in the store.) Jasmine usually has better decorating ideas than I do, so it's nice to have a second opinion when shopping.

4. Front Range Village [ shopfrontrangevillage.com ]

Front Range Village is a unique center that offers a fine mix of stores, restaurants and entertainment venues, including a dog park so your dog is always welcome! In addition, Front Range Village is home to the southeast branch of the Fort Collins Public Library. So you can dine, shop, and your dog can be out and about with you and get some fresh air and even socialize with the other pooches at the dog park located in the middle of the shopping center.

3. Old Town Fort Collins [ downtownfortcollins.com ]

Just minutes northwest of Fort Collins up the Poudre, you'll find a nice place to hike with your dog, Greyrock Trail. Located 9 miles west of Ted's Place, the moderate hike that is 7 miles round trip on a loop with amazing views of the Fort Collins, and the Rocky Mountains and that mountain fresh air. I've hiked the trail many times and there are always friendly folks and many dogs along the way too. As always, make sure your dog is leashed at all times for their safety and everyone else's.

1. Spring Canyon Community (Dog) Park [ Fort Collins Dog Parks ]

You can take your dog and your entire family to Spring Canyon Community Park in Fort Collins! Located on the very west end of Horsetooth Road, just west of Taft Hill, you'll find a playground, tennis courts, awesome trails, and the best (and biggest) dog park in Fort Collins! Does your dog like to swim? There is a pond located inside the huge dog park just for the swimmers and plenty of areas to run and play.  Spring Canyon Dog Park seems to have consistent visitors throughout the day, weekdays and weekends (but never overcrowded) so there are plenty of opportunities for your dog to play and socialize with other dogs whenever you go.

My little Jasmine isn't a swimmer, but I found this video of a dog named Crystal swimming at the pond:

Jasmine agrees,  these are the best places to take your dog in Fort Collins.
