If you are a single woman looking for romance in Colorado, I know of quite a few places that stack the numbers in your favor. Single Colorado men can be found by the herd in a bunch of different towns in this wonderful state, and quite a few of them aren't very far away.

If you've spent any time in the ski towns of Colorado, you should know that there are many more men than women, at least on the dating or social scene. Just hit any club in any ski town on a Friday night and count. You'll see that the sheer numbers are on your side. I know there are other factors besides numbers when it comes to finding a mate, but hey, it's a start.

Simple Numbers

I've heard some crazy numbers for the men to women ratio. The number changes depending on who is speaking. A dateless guy is going to inflate it. A dateless girl may deflate it. And none of these numbers are going to reflect the actual census numbers that came out in 2010. According to it, the town of Vail was 42% female, so there are definitely more men than women. However, that is nowhere near the 7-1 or even 10-1 numbers that you may hear on the street. In these discussions, you'll hear the Vail Valley called 'the Male Valley'. I think the difference in the numbers that are commonly believed and the actual census numbers is that the ratios we hear on the street refer to people of dating age, say 18-40, rather than the true total number of females that live there. When it comes to those age groups, especially when narrowed down to people in their 20's and early 30's, there is little doubt that the men outnumber the women.

The Adventurous Type

The reasons that there are a lot of single Colorado men in the ski towns is simple--they are some of the worlds' best places to play. From skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports to fishing, biking, hiking, climbing and summer sports, people fly from all over the world to vacation in Colorado. Many of them, like me, have a light bulb turn on in their head, and they think, 'If I lived here, I could do this all the time!' And we move here by the flock. So, if you head to the mountains hoping to meet adventurous, single Colorado men, you shouldn't have to look far. Chances are, adventure is the reason why most of them have landed here.

The Odds are Good, but the Goods are Odd

That is another common saying in the mountains. The fact that many of the men in the mountain towns of Colorado are there because they love to play can be a double edged sword. On one hand, they are probably going to be fit, up for adventures and well versed in how to have a good time. On the other hand, they may like it too much, sacrificing other qualities that women find attractive, like ambition, the desire for prosperity and family because they just want to ride, man. Many of these single Colorado men are only about having good times. I was. Ski or snowboard all day, party all night. Repeat. That was my schedule from 1998 to 2001. Some women are into that. Others want the opposite.
