A yearling cub bear in Steamboat Springs has taught himself to open car doors. He started his crime spree by climbing thru a sliding window of a pickup where he did found food. Wildlife officials believe he returned to the same spot a few days later and opened the doors to 3 more vehicles. According to Steamboat Springs Today:

'Early in the morning of May 29, police were called about a bear that managed to lock itself inside a Subaru hatchback on Ridge Road, just off Burgess Creek. The bear alerted the property owner to the situation by honking the car's horn.'

People in Steamboat Springs are being asked to lock their car doors to help save the young bear. Steamboat Springs Today reported that there have been multiple reports of bears getting into vehicles. Officials believe it's the first year the bear is foraging for food.
