Banner Health has hired a new chief executive officer for Northern Colorado. Margo Karsten will begin her new position September 5. Karsten will provide overall leadership for North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Banner Fort Collins Medical Center in Fort Collins, as well as area off-site facilities operated by the
hospitals.

Karsten has served as CEO for Cheyenne Regional Medical Center since 2013. Prior to that, she served as president and CEO of Creative Health Care Management, a consulting group based in Minneapolis. Her resume also includes stints as chief nursing officer, chief operating officer and chief executive officer at Poudre Valley Hospital where she worked from 1997 to 2005. She has also served as a faculty member at University of Colorado Denver and Regis University.

Karsten will replace Scott Baker who has served as interim CEO since April when Rick Sutton resigned to become CEO of Southeast Alabama Medical Center and president of the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, both in Dothan, Ala. Scott will return to his role as vice president of operations for Banner Medical Group in the organization’s Western Division.
