How Good Are You At Quitting?
Last weekend I read “The Dip” by Seth Godin. It’s a great little book about quitting. The general idea is that we probably don’t quit things often enough. (Or worse, quit the wrong things at just the wrong time.) Some things we hang on to too long, while we walk away from other things at just the wrong moment.
New England Ends Broncos’ Win Streak 41-23
The magic ran out for the Denver Broncos (8-6) this afternoon at Mile High, as New England (11-3) was too much for Tebow and company, winning 41-23. Denver dominated the first quarter, but it was all Patriots after that. The Raiders (7-7) also lost today, leaving the Broncos on top of the AFC West.
Taylor Swift Reveals What She Wants For Christmas
What do you get the girl that has everything (top awards, top tour, top albums, top songs), or could get herself whatever she wants? According to Pop Crush, Taylor Swift's wish list is pretty simple. She wants a pasta maker, antique picture frames, and “anything from Free People or Anthropologie.”
The Blame Game: How To Prevent Yourself From Becoming A Victim
I’m a Minnesota Vikings fan. They lose a lot of games. And it seems that a lot of those games come down to one close call (and often a bad call) by a referee at the end of the game that costs the purple people eaters the victory. This is not just a Vikings thing. Happens to all teams every now and then. Ref blew the call and cost us the game!
Broncos Face Test Today Against Patriots
The first place Denver Broncos (8-5) face their most serious Tebow-era test this afternoon when they host the New England Patriots (10-3) at Mile High (2:15pm on CBS). The Broncos will be seeking their seventh straight win, and eighth in their last nine games following last week's overtime victory.
War Ends: Last U.S. Troops Leave Iraq
After nine years of a deadly and controversial war, the final U.S. troops have crossed the border into Kuwait early this morning, leaving Iraq behind. America had 239,000 men and women in uniform stationed in more than 500 bases sprinkled throughout Iraq at the peak of the war. Another 135,000 contractors were working in Iraq.
Broncos’ Tim Tebow Scores A Best-Selling Book
As Tim Tebow enjoys the Bronco's current winning streak, and prepares to take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots tomorrow at Mile High, he is relishing a different kind of victory. His memoir, Through My Eyes, written with Nathan Whitaker, is back in USA TODAY's Top 50, at No. 46.
Why Avoiding Your Doctor Is A Bad Idea
Here’s one thing I know (and yes, it may be the only thing); nothing is ever gained by waiting to go to the doctor. Whether it’s a routine screening or you suspect there might be something wrong; nothing is ever gained by waiting. Do yourself a favor. Get in there.
Who Cares? (You Might Be Suprised)
I recently read The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. Good book. You may have seen him on Oprah. He is the professor diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, that gives a “last lecture” on what he had learned in life, and what he thought was worth mentioning to pass along. Lots of meaningful ideas.
Hot Tip: Details Matter (Even In This Busy World)
We’re busy people, living in a busy world. Jobs, families, hobbies, clubs, civic organizations, second jobs, third jobs, kids’ activities, committees. It never seems to end. So much to do. So little time. Around my office, you could apply the same template to most people’s daily work to-do lists.
CSU Names McElwain As New Head Football Coach
Colorado State University has named Jim McElwain as the 20th head coach to lead the Rams' football program. McElwain was signed to a 5-year, $1.3 million contract. The 49 year-old coach most recenly served as the offensive coordinator at Alabama for the last four years. McElwain will remain on Alabama's staff through the national championship game on January 9th.
Simplifying Isn’t Always So Simple
There is a push in certain circles to SIMPLIFY. There are simplify t-shirts, simplify bumper stickers, and simplify billboards. For some reason simplifying doesn’t seem to be enough for those who seem to enjoy it. They need me to simplify too. I think they mean to encourage us to simplify our lives. To get back to the basics. To focus on what’s important. I for one think that simplifying can be a
