The Rockies and Braves play the final game of the series this afternoon at 1:10 at Coors Field (TV: Root Sports).
Jason Giambi’s pinch-hit, walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth, broke a 5-5 tie and lifted the Colorado Rockies (12-12) over the Los Angeles Dodgers (17-8) 8-5 yesterday afternoon in Denver. Giambi’s blast came after the Dodgers had tied the game in the top of the ninth. The Rockies have today off, before hosting the Atlanta Braves (15-10) tomorrow night at 6:40 at Coors Field (TV: Root Sports).
Colorado Rockies (11-12) starter Jhoulys Chacin gave up a career-high seven earned runs on 11 hits and four walks while pitching the Rockies into a 7-0 hole in just 4 2/3 innings last night in Denver. Colorado rallied late, but came up short, resulting in a 7-6 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers (17-7). Game 3 of the series is at 1:10 this afternoon at Coors Field (TV: none).
Carlos Gonzalez’s two home runs were not enough, as the Colorado Rockies (8-8) fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates (7-9) 5-4 last night at PNC Park.
