I was born a Pennsylvania boy, but I think I was always destined for Colorado Radio. One of my greatest love as a teenager and young adult was listening to great music on my Walkman while skiing the respectable but sometimes snow starved slopes of the Appalachians. After a1996 ski trip to Crested Butte, the blessing of over a foot of fresh powder, and a night out to a Leftover Salmon show where I met many like-minded locals, I decided that after graduation from Penn State, I would point the car west and call the Rocky Mountains home. Since then, I have adopted Colorado. I met my wife at a most unlikely place...a rodeo. There might be nicer places in America to call home, but I don't even care to go looking for them. I have been so welcomed by this community and I feel so lucky to be on the air here, to work for a company that allows us to do local radio properly, and to just call Northern Colorado my home.

The Best Extreme Sports Western Road Trip – The Colorado and Utah Desert

This is part of a series that discusses a western road trip that can blow your recreation mind, in winter or summer. Because I'm a big snowhead, I'll refer to the ski resorts a lot, but these areas have world class recreation in most categories and seasons.
From Eagle County to the lower lying Colorado/Utah high desert, it's an easy drive.
The highway is wide, fast and there aren't many people on it. You're pretty far from any major metro area, and it feels that way. We stopped in Glenwood Springs for wings, and I kind of wished we were staying there.

The Best Extreme Sports Road Trip Loop in the West

"Go west, young man" was once the advice to all ambitious Americans, as the land of opportunity was becoming more and more crowded along the eastern side.
It's still great advice, especially for those looking for fun. For our guys trip this year (a few guys from PA visit us in CO every year), we decided instead of the ski in/ski out-stay in one place idea, we'd road trip it, and enjoy cold and warm weather sports.
