Connaitre Miller has been a vocal instructor at Howard University in Washington, D.C. for 10 years and has local ties to UNC in Greeley. Her vocal group, Afro-Blue, was part of NBC’s “The Sing-Off” this season. According to an article from The Tribune, Miller wasn’t a fan of reality shows, but her group ended up auditioning for the show and ended up making it.

New Belgium Brewing Up 2 New Beers, Looking to Add Brewery on the East Coast
New Belgium Brewing has announced it is adding a couple of new beers and will possibly expand and add a brewery on the East Coast. According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, the brewery is considering new locations in Philadelphia, Pa., Asheville, N.C. and two other location in the east.

There’s an app for that and soon there will be a rating system for those apps. The Entertainment Software Rating Board is developing a rating system for those thousands and thousands of mobile apps to help guide consumers like you and me. The new mobile app rating system will be similar to the the rating system currently used for rating video games.

UPS to Up Shipping Rates in 2012
UPS announced it’s raising shipping rates Friday afternoon. The good news, it will be after the Holiday season this year. United Parcel Service is the world’s largest trucking and delivery company in the world and they will be reducing their fuel surcharge fees slightly, but increasing base rates.
15 Students, 1 Adult at Blevins Middle School in Fort Collins Treated for Symptoms After Unknown Odor Forces Evacuation
At around 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon school personnel at Blevins Middle School on the west side of Fort Collins called 911 to report they had an odor in the building and 12 students saying they did not feel well. A Hazardous Materials Team from Poudre Fire Authority responded to the call.
Loveland Resident Honored by Larimer County Sheriff’s Office for Saving a Life
Congratulations to Sally Ripplinger of Loveland. Sally was awarded a Sheriff’s Commendation by Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith for helping to save a life back in September. Ms. Ripplinger was presented the award during a ceremony held Wednesday in the Sheriff’s office.

Occupy Fort Collins protesters marched north along College Avenue to a new site on Tuesday. The local activists had previously occupied the corner of College and Jefferson/Maple streets in Old Town since October 10, 2011.
Wyoming-Based Warren Federal Credit Union to Open Fort Collins Branch, Bring Jobs to the City
Warren Federal Credit Union, based in Wyoming, announced plans to build a new branch in Fort Collins and bring about 15-20 new jobs to the city. According to an article, WFCU will build a new branch near Drake and Timberline in Fort Collins. This will be the credit union’s second Colorado location.
CSU Police Investigate Suspicious Fire on Campus That Damaged Three Vehicles [PHOTOS]
CSU Police and Poudre Fire Authority are investigating suspicious vehicle fires that occurred early Tuesday morning. According to Poudre Fire Authority, CSU Police Officers arrived on scene to find one vehicle fully engulfed in flames that quickly spread to two others. Officers attempted to stop the fire spread using fire extinguishers, but the fire was too large.
