Police are investigating the death of a 73-year-old man who apparently committed suicide outside Medical Center of the Rockies on Sunday.

According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald, police were notified at 2:12 p.m. by emergency room workers on Sunday that they found the man outside with a gunshot wound to his head, which Loveland Police Sgt. Mike Halloran says investigators believe was self-inflicted.

Hospital employees told the Reporter-Herald they saw the man sitting in his parked car for approximately 15 minutes before his death.

The man's identity will be released by the Larimer County Coroner's Office once an autopsy has been performed and his family is notified. Halloran says the man was not a current patient of the hospital.
