What is Colorado known for?

The Rocky Mountains? Well that's a no-brainer.

How about being the first state to legalize marijuana? We're known for that as well.

But the thing that we are most known for is craft beer. Think about it. Fort Collins is known as the "Napa Valley of Beer". So when it comes to the best craft brew in the state, do you think that honor gets awarded to a Northern Colorado establishment?

According to the website Thrillist, the answer is no.

In their latest blog looking for the "Best Craft Brewery in Each State", the honor goes to Avery Brewing in Boulder. While the website states that this was a tough decision due to the amount of great breweries in the state, they say that no beer tastes finer than Avery.

The beers from Avery that Thrillist highly recommends trying include:

  • Ellie's Brown
  • Joe's Pilsner
  • Karma Belgian Pale Ale

My favorite Avery Beer is the "Rumpkin", which is a spiced 16 to 18 percent alcohol pumpkin ale aged in rum barrels. It is the perfect beer for the Fall season. Plus on the way is a Vanilla Bean Stout and a Coconut Porter.

Avery has also been in a growth spurt the last few years, with the recent opening of a $28 million, 67000 square foot facility in the Gunbarrel area north of Boulder. This is used to create the beers that they sell along with having tasting rooms and tours that are open to the public.

What do you think? Do you agree that Avery is the best craft beer in the state or does that honor deserve to go to a local Northern Colorado brewery?
