Famed actor, activist, and social media giant, George Takei, will be coming to speak live at CU Boulder on Wednesday, October 26. Many recognize Takei from his recurring part in the popular television series, "Star Trek." Since then, the 79-year-old actor has appeared in countless other TV shows and movies, while also playing the role of human rights activist on the side, too. Using social media as his platform – currently with 1.81 million Twitter followers and 9.8 million likes on his Facebook page, Takei often chooses to discuss important life and social issues, particularly those revolving around LGBTQIA and human rights causes.

Now, Takei is spreading his message to even more people by heading out on tour and speaking at various locations across the country. As part of this national tour, Takei will be making a stop at CU Boulder's campus at 7:30 p.m. on October 26, in the Macky Auditorium. Following his speech, Takei will be taking questions from the audience. Tickets go on sale at 10:30 a.m. on October 10, and will be $25 for the general public, $10 for CU employees, and $2 for CU students. Once on sale, the public can purchase their tickets at http://www.colorado.edu/macky/home, while students and employees can pick them up at the University Memorial Center from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, paying cash only.
